Upcoming Corsair Gaming IPO Highlights Rise of Gaming, eSports, and Streaming

Corsair Gaming is a provider of high-performance gear for gamers & content creators. It leads U.S. market share in categories including keyboards, power supply units, & high-performance memory. The company filed to go public on Friday and will trade under the symbol CRSR.

Video game streaming: The gaming and streaming gear market was estimated at over $36 billion in 2019, according to JonPeddieResearch. 71% of millennial gamers in the U.S. watch gaming video content on platforms like YouTube & Twitch for an average of almost 6 hrs/week in 2019, says Nielsen.

Gamers spend big: An estimated 2.6 billion gamers worldwide across all devices spent more than $148.8 billion on games in 2019, according to Newzoo. Gaming represents ~11% of leisure time in the U.S. That’s according to Nielsen.

The competition in key markets: Logitech is a top competitor in keyboards, mice, headsets, streaming gear, controllers. Rivals in the market for PSUs, cooling solutions & computer cases include Cool Master, NZXT, and EVGA.

Reliance on Amazon: Corsair gets a big chunk of its biz from sales to Amazon. Sales to Amazon accounted for 26.8% of net revenue in the six months ended June 30, 2020, according to the company’s S-1 filing.
